Yoga w/ Alexandra
Alex will be teaching yoga Saturday morning to ensure you get grounded, connected to your body, and in touch with the land.
We know many of you will be traveling quite the distance to get to beautiful Northern Michigan, so we want to make sure your body gets the love and care that it needs after a long travel. A nice big stretch with your feet on the Earth will be exactly what you need after a long drive!
Mats are welcome but skipping the mat and planting your hands and feet into soil to connect with Mother Earth is encouraged. Alex will guide you through a slow flow beginner class followed by a deep meditation. The goal is to help you get back into your body and out of your mind so that we are all present during this beautiful weekend up at Camp Compost.
After practicing yoga for almost ten years, and after significantly reducing chronic back pain, Alex decided it was time to share this movement medicine with others. Yoga has been been practiced by humans for thousands of years and it was found in the most ancient sacred text known to man: The Vedaās. The biggest benefit of yoga is improving/reducing aches and pains in the body, as it helps move stagnant energy and emotions that are no longer serving us.
Through breath and movement we will walk away feeling connected to ourselves, clear headed and lighter than before.
Blankets and blocks will be provided for those who need the extra support. Extra mats will also be provided but if you have one and prefer to use one please bring it with you on your Journey to Camp Compost.

Yoga w/ Emily
Emily @growing_dodi studied kinesiology & geology at University of Kentucky before acquiring her yoga certification & working with several studios across Kentucky to co-facilitate the first public cannabis elevated yoga classes in the Bluegrass state.
After moving to Michigan & adopting more farming & homesteading practices her classes have evolved to reflect movement variations that most people seem to be lacking throughout their daily lives. Just like our soil & thus our foods have suffered nutrient depletion, many of us suffer from āmovement malnourishmentā - while we may be moving plenty throughout our days as farmers & compost enthusiasts, the shapes our bodies take could be exhausting certain muscles while neglecting others creating space for fatigue or even injuries.
Saturdayās flow will embrace ways we can orient our bodies to enrich our lives with ānutrient dense movementā

Jordanās goal is to enable each other to positively transform health in an easy & functional way. Once the skills have been instilled, the real abundance comes with confidence to experiment, and thereby share & diversify. The demo will include sauerkraut and kombucha making. Campers are welcome to (please, bring a clean jar w/ lid), participate by packing their own jars, taking home a culture to experiment with kombucha or kraut themselves!
This demo was a huge hit last year. It is a fun, tasty, & easy opportunity to learn and grow š¦ š§
Any experienced fermenters are welcome to bring their own homemade elixirs & concoctions. One of the best parts of last yearsā demo was tasting everyoneās fermentation creations, sharing and trading mother cultures, and exchanging methods and ideas.
Any novice fermentation enthusiasts may be advised to start small with samples of fermented products, & simply BE AWARE, the body often requires time to adapt to the consumption of fermented foods and drinks. Just like most substances, a tolerance of sorts may be built over timeā¦ Probiotics may stimulate better digestion, of course, with a healthy respect for the microbes at work š¦ šŖ Balance and moderation are key š āØ
